Katelynn Schwandt grew up in a small farming community in South Dakota. With a desire to live among the trees, she moved to Duluth, Minnesota in 2008 and graduated from University of Minnesota-Duluth. Knowing that law school was always her goal, Katelynn began her legal career at University of St. Thomas School of Law. During law school, worked for two family law firms and represented clients in divorce, custody, and domestic violence cases. Following her law school graduation, Katelynn worked as a judicial law clerk for the Minnesota Judicial Branch. For three years, Katelynn had the unique experience of clerking for several judges throughout Minnesota, including the Honorable David N. Lutz, the Honorable Philip C. Carruthers, and the Honorable Shan C. Wang. Looking for a smaller community to open a law practice, Katelynn and her husband, Alex, also an attorney, moved to Duluth in November of 2022. In addition to representing clients at Schwandt Law, Katelynn also represents parents in child protection proceedings in Lake and Cook counties. Outside of law, Katelynn is an active member at Peace in Christ Lutheran Church and proud advocate and supporter of individuals in the recovery community.
